MUSIC IN THE PARK FESTIVAL
Sippican School FESTIVAL BAND & CONCERT CHOIR TRIP to the
MUSIC IN THE PARKS FESTIVAL
Friday, May 26th, 2023
The Festival Band & Concert Choir have been accepted to participate in this year’s “MUSIC IN THE PARKS FESTIVAL.” The Band will perform and be judged on May 26th at 11:20 at Holyoke High School and the Concert Choir at 12:40 at the United Congregational Church of Holyoke. We then travel to Six Flags Park (arriving around 1:30) for an afternoon and evening of fun! The schedule for the day:
May 26th:
8:00 – Leave Sippican School
10:50 - Arrive at Holyoke High School
11:20 –Festival Band performs in the Auditorium
12:40 - Concert Choir performs at the United Congregational Church of Holyoke
1:00 – Reload buses and head for Six Flags, Agawam, MA
1:30PM – Arrive at Six Flags for an afternoon/early evening of FUN
6:00PM – Awards Ceremony at Six Flags
6:30PM – Leave for Sippican
9:00PM – Back at Sippican School
Cost: $80.00 for the Park Pass, Band Performance & Clinic.
Make checks payable to: Sippican School Music Account.
There are funds available for folks who need assistance – contact me (HTCM) directly.
We need at least 12 adults willing to join us. Ideally, I would like 1 adult responsible for 6 (or fewer) children in the park. Adult passes for the Park are $40.
Please return the permission slip and payment by April 14, 2023.

Be there ready to play by 4:45.
Bring your instrument, band book & music stand (if you have one)
This will be SO MUCH FUN!!!
Festival Band AHA! Night Performance Details
DATE: June 8, at 5PM.
WHERE: Front entrance courtyard of the New Bedford Whaling Museum Paul Cuffee Park,
Corner of Johnny Cake Hill & Union Street , New Bedford, MA.
BRING: Your instrument, Band Book & a foldable music stand if you have one.
WEAR: Blue Band Shirt.
SET-UP: I will be packing my truck after school, leaving Sippican by 4PM. I will be setting up in the courtyard by 4:30. Any and all help welcome.
TRANSPORTATION: Families are in charge of getting their child to and from the performance. I know this may be hard with work schedules – car pool can be a good solution. Let me know if you need help connecting with a family to help you out.
CAN’T MAKE IT? : Be sure to let me know. I can manage most things, but surprises (no shows) throw us all for a loop!

Sippican School Festival Band
THE FESTIVAL BAND meets at 8AM on Wednesdays. This band takes on extra challenges in music and has extra performances. We plan to play at AHA! night in December, and we will perform at the Great East Music Festival in the spring (with a trip to Canoe Lake after our performance). Festival Band also performs at a variety of school and community functions. In the past the band performed at the Sippican Lands Trust fair and at a retirement home in Falmouth. Any hard working 6th grader is welcome to participate, and capable 5th graders also join the group.
The FIRST Festival Band rehearsal is on September 21 at 8AM.
